were collated during the consultation and negotiation phase preceding the
introduction of De Alarm range of security products to Nigeria. They helped
to inform our knowledge on adapting the products for its effectiveness in
Nigeria. The responses to these questions may redress any myths you may have
about the application of such products.
Why
is it a better security option?
It is the only security provision that would contact/call for desired help
in dire situation. It adds hope of getting support in such helpless
situation and also gives the user a degree of control over the situation in
the event of an intended intrusion.
Comparatively,
it has an independent mind so it would not compromise you which other
options might be fallible to. The base of the system are sensors which are
renowned to be always alert sensors dont sleep . That explains the
reason for their being the most popular option for personal and property
security in the developed world. They are used to either independently
secure or compliment other security provisions.
It is also
reputed as the most effective deterrent. Once robbers are aware of its
existence in your property, they would rather pick another softer target
rather than risk being caught in the act.
What would
happen in the event of an intrusion?
Your household and neighbourhood might be alerted by the siren (optional).
The system would also automatically call all the five programmed helplines.
How does it
contact the helplines?
The system has an in-built auto-dialler that would call up to five helplines
on your behalf. Each helpline would be called in sequence 3 times. The
logical reasoning for this provision is to ensure some of the lines are
still accessible even when there is a network failure from service
providers; a contact line is engaged or faulty.
Would/can you
get me the desired response?
Yes. However the quality of support would be dependent on your pre
arrangement against such eventuality. The system automatically relays/states
your pre-recorded message to the receiver of each call. Ideally, such
helplines should be those of trusted relatives/friends. It could also
include that of the local security control room, response unit or police.
Linkage to such services incurs additional expenses.
What can the
receiver of such calls do?
The onus is on them to either directly give or summon for the required
support. The system has an intercom facility that enables the receiver of
the call to hear what is happening on the intruded premises. The receiver
can also be able to openly talk to those on the intruded property. Such
discussion may reveal the identity of the intruder/s.
What if the
intruder knows you have such a system and try destroying it?
The main controller of the system is compact and concealable. An intruder
needs to first be able to gain access to the premises before being able to
locate and destroy it. The system would have been activated even before an
intruder can reach it. Alternatively you can remotely trigger ( activate)
the system from any corner of your premises by pressing the panic button on
your remote controller or using your mobile phone from any range worldwide.
What if the
connecting telephone line is cut off?
A tamper switch is in the main controller. The siren would still be
activated if the system is tampered with.
What if there
is a power cut?
The main controller has an in-built self rechargeable battery that powers
the system for up to 12 consecutive hours when fully charged. The battery
starts recharging when electricity power supply is restored. The electrical
consumption is <8W and the applicable voltage regulation is 220 -240.
What is the
effect of interference on its performance from the operational frequency
band of other wireless gadgets?
The operational frequency band of De Alarm range of security products for
the Nigerian market has been set at 315
Metz to eliminate interference from the operating waveband
of any other wireless products applicable in
Nigeria. De
Alarms operating frequency would effectively interlink/interface its
wireless accessories within a radius range of 100 metres apart.
Its remote
controller has also been factory programmed to eliminate cross interference
by various users of the same product.
What other
safeguards may you need to know of? The system includes a crystal
generator to safeguard it against damage from fluctuation on electrical
power supply which is a common cause of damages to electrical appliances
What
do you mean by multifunctional?
It means the product is inclusive of features over and above expectations
from a conventional intruder/security alarm. The main controller offers a
variety of features to be benefited with the learning on of some optional
accessories. Only one main controller is required on a property to which as
many wireless sensors/accessories can be linked/learnt on within 100 metres
of its location.
In addition to
security, the system can be used for improving safety against fire or gas
hazards. It can also be used for remote automation of your electrical
appliances consuming /\1300 watts including lightings and split
air-conditioners.
The system
increases the wider usage of a mobile phone enabling the possibility of
being alerted, the monitoring of ones secured property or control of the
system from any range worldwide.
What about the
quality?
The product is subjected to British quality standard CE. It has a one year
(12 months) warranty form the date of purchase or installation. The test-run
has proven that it has nil or negligible maintenance cost. Any concern is
openly detectable and correctable using the LED lighting on the main
controller or those on any of the sensors. The product is also introduced to
