1. INTRODUCTION

Theft and vandalism of electrical and telecom distribution accessories including outdoor overhead wirings and sub-station equipments are on the increase. These crimes cause huge losses and damages to the power and telecommunication service provider as well as inconveniences to the communities.  

De Alarm through years of R& D and experiences in providing integrated and customizing solution for the ‘security and fire safety’ industry has invented a device to curb cable theft – ‘Smart De Alarm’ anti cable theft device. This device is the most effective option to protecting cables and sub-station equipments. Any sort of tampering will be promptly reported to those near and far from the protected cables or equipments (Refer to ‘Monitoring’ information).

The device consists of a series of cable clamps which are clamped to each cable to detect the signal and transmit to the main controller unit during an attempt to tamper with the cables.

3. FEATURES

Effective - Cable clamp device will effectively protect each cable and stop cable theft from “by-pass” method of stealing the cable. The “by-pass” method is a common way of harvesting the cable from the target cable which essentially uses an aluminium cable to connect to two points of the target cable and then cut-off the target cable by parts. 

Simple - The device is designed as a non destructive device which does not need to cut cable during installation. The programming and settings are user friendly.

Reliable - The device is linked using signal cable between the cable clamp and main controller.

Instant Alert - The GSM module will instantly send out an alert call to the 5 pre-stored designated phone numbers in the instance of being tempered

Convenient - The device can be remotely controlled via any phone system (i.e. to arm, disarm and programming)

Enhanced security - The anti cable clamp offers enhanced security to the cables as it clamps the cables tightly together.

4. TYPICAL INSTALLATION PHOTOS

The Main controller (GSM Cable Alert Module) can be installed at the cable post, building structure, or near the transformer platform. The cable clamp signal cable should be connected to the main controller.         

5. MONITORING

Any detected tampering will be automatically communicated to:

1) Those within the vicinity of the protected cable or sub-station equipment. . On detection of tampering, the siren will be activated. The sound of the 120db siren and strobe light should attract curiosity and investigation.

2) A remote monitoring location which could be anywhere. The main controller through its GSM module will send out (voice and data) alert calls to 5 pre-stored phone numbers sequentially. Location of the cable theft attempt will also be identified. The voice alert call can enable the receiver to listen to events at the threatened location.

The data alert call will enable the receiver to promptly identify the location of the threat on a ‘Central Monitoring System’ (CMS). We supply our corporate customers an LCD Central Monitoring System comprising and screen ( see picture below) and processor.

Smart De Alarm's CMS will enable telephone calls to also be received in data (text) form. The CMS is capable of protecting up to 1,000 properties. This system enforces efficiency and accountability from those remotely monitoring the properties. It logs the details (location, disturbed zone/s and time) of the last 100 disturbed properties.
